Sharapova 6-3, 6-0 today to win the Australian
Open. Azarenka, playing in her first final in 25 Grand Slam
tournaments, was broken in the opening game of the match and
trailed 2-0 before taking advantage of 16 unforced errors by
Sharapova to win the first set in 46 minutes.
UNDATED (AP) - The Oakland Raiders formally announced the hiring
of their new head coach yesterday while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
were introducing theirs. The Raiders say Dennis Allen will be

four-year pact to replace Hue Jackson as head coach. And
newly-installed Bucs coach Greg Schiano says he
relishes the challenge of trying to turn around the struggling
franchise after rebuilding the Rutgers program.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Hunter
Pence has agreed to a one-year, $10.4 million contract rather than
await an arbitrator's decision on his 2012 salary. Pence had asked
for $11.8 million in arbitration while the Phillies countered with
a $9 million offer. He hit .314 with 22 homers and a career-high 97
RBIs for Houston and the Phillies last season.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - College of Charleston men's basketball
coach Bobby Cremins has taken an indefinite leave of absence for a

say Cremins' condition was not life threatening. Assistant coach
Mark Byington takes over a team that has dropped six of eight since
a 10-2 start.
