MN Sports Headlines for Saturday, Jan. 28th:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ricky Rubio scored nine of his 18 points in

the fourth quarter and dished out 10 assists to lift the Minnesota

Timberwolves to an 87-79 victory over the San Antonio Spurs last

night. Kevin Love had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Nikola Pekovic

added 14 points and 10 boards for the Wolves, who have beaten the

Spurs two straight times in the same season for the first time

since 2000.

 

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - David Johnstone's goal at 14:12 of the

third period capped a four-goal comeback and helped Michigan Tech

tie top-ranked Minnesota Duluth 4-4 yesterday in the Western

Collegiate Hockey Association. Minnesota Duluth's eight-game home

winning streak ended, as did Jack Connolly's 22-game in-season

point-scoring streak.

 

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Nick Bjugstad scored the game-winner in the

second period as Minnesota beat St. Cloud State 2-1 yesterday in

the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Bjugstad got the

game-winner for the third-ranked Gophers at 11:49 of the second

period.

 

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Justin Morneau's latest recovery is "right

on schedule" for him to start this season at first base for the

Minnesota Twins. The former American League MVP said last night

he's "hopeful" he'll be fully healthy in 2012. Last year, he had

four surgeries and a concussion and hit only four home runs in 69

games.
