Grand Jury says no to criminal charges against officer
No criminal charges are being filed against a New Ulm police officer involved in a fatal accident last July.
A grand jury in Brown County heard evidence in the case this week as it was presented by Redwood County Attorney Steven Collins.
After hearing and reviewing the evidence the grand jury issued a “no bill” on the felony and misdemeanor criminal counts.
Civil lawsuits are not affected by the grand jury decision.
The officer in the case-Matthew Rasmussen hit the vehicle being driven by Myra Meyer as she was turning left. Meyer and her son-Brian Wichmann were killed in the accident.
