Monday the Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) School Board approved making High School Principal Jeff Bertrang the district's new superintendent.
Bertrang replaced former Superintendent Tony Boyer who recently resigned due to health reasons.
Bertrang said he was willing to fill the high school principal and superintendent positions for the rest of the current school year at an $105,000 annual salary, pro-rated for the rest of the current school year.
The board approved a hiring variance for Bertrang to serve as superintendent while he completes education requirements for a superintendent license in the coming months.
A district committee will consider what administrative changes are needed to serve the district.
