MN Sports Headlines for Monday, Jan. 9th:


WASHINGTON (AP) - Kevin Love had 20 points and 16 rebounds

yesterday as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the winless Washington

Wizards 93-72. Ricky Rubio added 13 points and a career-high 14

assists for the Timberwolves, who snapped a two-game skid.

Minnesota was without forward Michael Beasley due to a sprained

right foot.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - D.J. Byrd sank all five of his three-point

attempts in the first half to help Purdue beat Minnesota last night

79-66. Byrd finished with a career-best 18 points and Lewis Jackson

added 20 for the Boilermakers. Rodney Williams led the Gophers with

19 points and 14 rebounds.

 


ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points

yesterday as No. 16 Michigan topped No. 18 Wisconsin 59-41.

Freshman Trey Burke added 14 points for the Wolverines, who snapped

a ten-game losing streak against the Badgers. Wisconsin star point

guard Jordan Taylor was held to 12 points.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The father of a Minnesota hockey player

seriously hurt Friday night says she still has no feeling in her

lower body. Jenna Privette, a senior at St. Croix Lutheran High

School in West St. Paul, was injured after being checked from

behind. Privette's injury comes less than two weeks after

Benilde-St. Margaret's player Jack Jablonski was paralyzed during a

hockey game.
