MN Sports Headlines for Saturday, Jan. 7th:


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Antawn Jamison had 22 points and six rebounds

to help the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 98-87 victory over the

Minnesota Timberwolves last night. Kevin Love had 29 points and 14

rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have taken two major steps

backward since beating Dallas and San Antonio on successive nights

to start the week.

 


CANTON, N.Y. (AP) - St. Lawrence scored twice in the last six

minutes to rally past Minnesota State, Mankato 4-3 in men's college

hockey yesterday. Matt Leitner and Johnny McInnis added goals for

MSUM.

 


KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Jack Connolly had three assists to

extend his points-scoring streak to 16 games and Minnesota Duluth

beat Western Michigan 4-1 yesterday in men's college hockey. The

top-ranked Bulldogs (13-3-3) extended their nation-best unbeaten

streak to 15 games (12-0-3). They haven't lost since a 5-4 setback

to Minnesota on October 15.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota All-Star Kevin Love is off to a

historic start this season for the Timberwolves. Love is the first

player since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975 to score at least 20

points and pull down at least 12 rebounds in his first six games of

the season.
