The Redwood Falls Wal-Mart Store broke ground today on an expansion that will increase the size of the store by about a third.
The expansion will allow for a full line grocery section with produce, meat, bakery and a small deli that will serve hot food.
The remodeling plan, according to Ray Vermillion-manager of the store, is design to cause the least amount of stress on the customer as possible. Although he admits that customers may have to excuse the mess at times during the 9 month project.
The store will remain 100% open and maintain the 24 hour service during the remodeling.
The expansion will also mean more jobs-although the exact number of employees that will be added is yet to be determined. Vermillion estimates that it will be an increase of 10 to 15% of their staff, maybe even more. Starting in late spring they will hire temps as progress continues.
