The city of Redwood Falls recently conducted compliance checks for tobacco and alcohol sales in the city.
Working with plainclothes and uniformed officers, underage youths entered establishment that are licensed to sell alcohol or tobacco products and then attempted to make an illegal purchase.
13 establishments were checked for alcohol sales and 2 sold to the underage buyer.
10 local establishments were checked for tobacco sales and 3 sold to the underage buyer.
The Redwood County Attorney's Office will review the cases and determine the charges against the individuals that sold to the underaged buyers.
Businesses that are in violation will be invited to attend a future city council hearing on the matter to determine consequences against the licsense holder.
At this time the Redwood Falls Police Department has not released the names of the businesses that did not comply.
