EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have promoted

Rick Spielman to general manager. Spielman became the Vikings' vice

president of player personnel in 2006. The team says Spielman will

oversee all football-related activities.

 


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf

says he feels a stadium deal "is going to be in the works

shortly." Wilf met with state legislative leaders yesterday to

discuss the team's efforts to compile a package to send to the

Legislature for approval. Wilf says the Vikings are still hoping to

build a new stadium in Arden Hills.

 


BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State High School

League is reminding hockey coaches and officials about eliminating

checking from behind. The reminder comes after 16-year-old Jack

Jablonski of Benilde-St. Margaret's suffered a paralyzing injury

last week. The league says it's emphasized reducing and removing

checking from behind for nearly a decade.

 


MADISON, Wis. (AP) - No. 10 Michigan State won their 14th

straight last night with a 63-60 overtime victory over No. 18

Wisconsin. Badgers' guard Ryan Evans had an apparent game-tying

three-pointer overturned on an officials' review in the extra time.

Draymond Green led the Spartans with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
