Tom Schmid, 74, of Hackensack, MN died on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at
Golden Living Center in Hopkins, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the
Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.  There will be a Parish Prayer
Service on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.
Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St.
Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:30 AM at
St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.

The Clergy will be Father Dennis Labat.

Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Clements, MN.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.

     Tom Bernard Schmid was born on January 2, 1937, in Redwood Falls, MN,
the son of Bernard and Dorothy (Arnett) Schmid.  He attended school in
Redwood Falls, MN.  Tom was united in marriage to Patricia "Patsy" Nelsen on
August 25, 1956, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Clements, MN.  He worked
for various farmers during high school, the elevator in Clements, moving to
Minneapolis shortly after marriage to work for Ste. Maries until retirement.
Tom enjoyed coaching little league football, hunting, fishing, smoking fish
& jerky, his retirement home "up north", playing cards - especially Cribbage
as he spent many hours playing Cribbage with his grandchildren, socializing
with his "up north" group,  attending class reunions, organizing garages,
grilling, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of Sons
of the American Legion (SAL) Post #202 in Hackensack, MN.

     Tom died on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in
Hopkins, MN at the age of 74 years.

     He is survived by his children - Donna (Bill) Lipetzky of Clements, MN
and Debra (Bob ) Fetter of Plymouth, MN; a daughter-in-law - Barb (Tim)
Tauer of Springfield, MN; grandchildren - Dan (Cassie) Lipetzky of Savannah,
GA, Greg (Katie) Lipetzky of Siverdale, WA, Anthony Lipetzky of Alexandria,
MN, Megan Lipetzky of Clements, MN, Kevin Scott of St. Cloud, MN, Matthew
Scott of Plymouth, MN, Michelle Scott of Minneapolis, MN, Adam (Kayla)
Schmid of Springfield, MN, Kristy Schmid of Minneapolis, MN and Sara Tauer
of Mankato, MN; great grandchildren - Kylie, Ella, Tessa, and Luke Lipetzky;
brothers - John (Blondie) Schmid of Douglas, WY and Douglas (Vicki) Schmid
of Douglas, WY; sisters - Judy (Dennis) Richter of Maracopa, AZ, Sally (Bob)
Nelson of Snohomish, WA, Pat (Lester) Schultz of Redwood Falls, MN, and
Susan (Daryl) Rielander of Hudson, WI; and brothers-in-law - Carl Sandberg
of Amery, WI, and Jerome Jensen of Springfield, MN.  He was preceded in
death by his parents; wife - Patsy; son - Patrick; granddaughters -
Katherine and Jessie; and sisters - Dorothy Sandberg and Karen Jensen.
