MN Sports Headlines for Monday, Jan. 2nd:


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Chicago Bears snapped their five-game

losing streak yesterday to end the season with a 17-13 victory over

the Minnesota Vikings. D.J. Moore's interception late in the fourth

quarter sealed the Chicago win. Vikings quarterback Christian

Ponder left the game early with a hip injury.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Vikings defensive end Jared Allen came up one

sack short of breaking Michael Strahan's single-season NFL record.

Allen had three-and-a-half sacks yesterday against Chicago to

finish the season with 22 sacks. Despite missing the league mark,

Allen surpassed Chris Doleman for the franchise record.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kevin Love had 25 points and 17 rebounds last

night to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Dallas Mavericks

99-82. The Timberwolves closed the game with a 15-0 run and snapped

an 18-game losing streak that dated back to last season. Dirk

Nowitzki scored 21 points for the defending champs, who are off to

a 1-4 start.

 


ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Trey Burke had a season-high 27 points

as No. 18 Michigan beat Minnesota 61-56 yesterday. Stu Douglass and

Zack Novak added nine points apiece for the Wolverines, who won

their seventh straight. Julian Welch and Rodney Williams led

Minnesota with 11 points each.
