MOA security tested

Security at the Mall of America has been stepped up a day after a disturbance involving more than 200 young people that led to around 10 arrrests.

Police and mall officials say the incident began around 4:20 p.m. Monday as a fight among a large group of young people in a food court, and that it spread through the nation's largest shopping and entertainment complex. It took mall security and police more than an hour to restore order.

Bloomington Police Commander Mark Stehlik said on Tuesday that investigators still don't know what prompted the disturbances. But around 10 juveniles and young adults were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Stehlik says he doesn't think the trouble was organized.

No serious injuries or major thefts were reported.
