MN Sports Headlines for Monday, Dec. 19th:


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Drew Brees threw for 412 yards and five

touchdowns as the New Orleans Saints routed the Minnesota Vikings

42-20 yesterday. Brees is now just 304 yards shy of breaking Dan

Marino's single-season record with two games left. Vikings running

back Adrian Peterson rushed for 60 yards after missing the last

three games with an injury.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The injury-plagued Minnesota Wild have

recalled forwards Jed Ortmeyer and Chad Rau from their AHL

affiliate. The team made the moves yesterday. The Wild are

currently missing four of their top six forwards to injury, plus

Casey Wellman was placed on injured reserve.

 


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs stopped the Green

Bay Packers' perfect season with a 19-14 win yesterday. Quarterback

Kyle Orton finished with 299 yards passing in his first start for

the Chiefs. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers threw for a score and added

an eight-yard touchdown run.

 


CHICAGO (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks returned two interceptions

for touchdowns yesterday on their way to a 38-14 win over the

Chicago Bears. Marshawn Lynch added two rushing scores for the

Seahawks, who outscored the Bears 31-0 in the second half. Chicago

played most of the game without receiver Johnny Knox, who was

carted off the field with a back injury in the first quarter.
