Elden Edgar Harder, the son of Emil and Lena (Schroeder) Harder, was born February 6, 1919 in Eden Township, Brown County. He was raised on the family farm in rural Morgan and received his formal education at the nearby country school.

On August 24, 1941, Elden married Violet Hendrickson in Redwood Falls and the couple made their home on the farm in rural Morgan. In 1978, they relocated to rural Danube. Elden farmed and milked dairy cows for over 40 years. Upon his retirement from farming in 1988, the couple moved into Redwood Falls where they have resided since. Elden was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls where he served as a greeter. He was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Morgan where he served as an usher. Farming and the dairy cows occupied much of Elden’s time, but he also enjoyed tinkering with motors, fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife Violet of Redwood Falls; daughter Janice Schmidt of Winthrop; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Elden was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and one great-grandson.

Blessed be his memory.
