Natl. Sports Headlines for Thursday, Dec. 15th:


ATLANTA (AP) - This evening's NFL game has Atlanta playing host

to Jacksonville. The Falcons enter play with a record of 8-and-5,

while the visiting Jaguars are 4-and-9. The last time these clubs

met was during the 2007 season with Jacksonville winning, 13-7.

 


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The NBA Charlotte Bobcats have signed

shooting guard Reggie Williams to a two-year contract. Williams,

who is entering his third season of pro ball, had been a restricted

free agent but Golden State rescinded his rights in their efforts

to sign a center.

 


UNDATED (AP)) - The NBA has given its blessings to a trade

between the L.A. Clippers and New Orleans Hornets. The deal sends

guard Chris Paul to the Clippers, with the Hornets getting guard

Eric Gordon, forward Al-Farouq Aminu,

center Chris Kaman and a first-round draft choice.

 


LONDON (AP) - Security for next year's Olympics in London has

been beefed up. Britain's defense ministry says 13,500 soldiers

will be deployed to help protect the event. The announcement

supports the already announced 10,000 security guards and about

12,000 police officers.

 


LONDON (AP) - The class of 2012 for golf's Hall of Fame is set.

It was announced this morning that two-time major champion Sandy

Lyle of Scotland and British commentator Peter Alliss have

been selected. They join previously selected American's Phil

Mickelson and Hollis Stacy and writer Dan Jenkins.
