LOS ANGELES (AP) - Matt Hackett stopped 42 shots in his first

NHL start last night has the Minnesota Wild topped the Los Angeles

Kings 4-2. Hackett stretched his string of consecutive saves to 65

yesterday before Dustin Penner scored in the third period. Mikko

Koivu, Darroll Powe, Marco Scandella and Cody Almond had goals for

the Wild.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Wild have placed right wing

Devin Setoguchi on injured reserve. The move was made before

yesterday's game against Los Angeles. Setoguchi was injured in the

first period of Tuesday's game at San Jose.

 


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian

Peterson has returned to practice. Peterson took part in individual

drills yesterday after missing the last two games with a sprained

ankle. Quarterback Christian Ponder hasn't been on the field this

week after sustaining a hip pointer in last Sunday's game.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Second-overall pick Derrick Williams has

arrived in Minnesota, ready to begin his professional career with

the Timberwolves. Williams says he's relieved the NBA season will

begin shortly. Williams worked out with some of his new teammates

yesterday.
