MN Sports Headlines for Tuesday, Dec. 6th:

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback

Christian Ponder suffered a hip pointer in Sunday's game against

Denver. Coach Leslie Frazier says the team is concerned about

Ponder, but he added that trainers told him the rookie "should be

fine" for Sunday's game against Detroit. Frazier says Joe Webb

would play if Ponder couldn't.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota coach Leslie Frazier says

there's not much the Vikings can do about the team's depleted

secondary. The team has allowed 24 touchdowns passing this season,

the most in the NFL. Minnesota next faces Detroit and New Orleans,

two of the league's top five passing teams.

DALLAS (AP) - A person familiar with the situation tells The

Associated Press the Minnesota Twins and closer Matt Capps have

agreed to a $4.75 million, one-year contract. The contract includes

a $6 million option with a $250,000 buyout. The Twins acquired

Capps in June 2010 from the Washington Nationals.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota men's basketball has passed their

first week without star Trevor Mbakwe. The star Gopher was lost for

the season after having surgery on his right knee. Minnesota has

won two in a row despite not reaching the 60-point mark. The

Gophers take on Appalachian State later today.
