Donald William VanderLinden, the son of William and Ruth (Cutting) VanderLinden, was born December 3, 1926. He was raised on the family farm in rural Belview. Don received his formal education in Belview Public School, graduating with the Class of 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and served until 1946. Following his honorable discharge, Don attended the Agriculture College at the University of Minnesota.
On July 1, 1950, Don married Anita Ohnesorge at the Methodist Church in Morgan. The couple moved to the farm in rural Redwood Falls where they lived their entire married life. He farmed the family farm for over 50 years and sold seed for DeKalb in the area for over 50 years as well. Don was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls and August Donner American Legion Post #309 in Belview.
Don and Anita traveled extensively over the years – visiting many foreign countries and every state in the Union. Don loved to visit with people. He enjoyed the Senior Center in Redwood Falls and played cards there nearly every day. On Thursdays, however, Don and his friends played cards in Belview.
Don is survived by his children Judy (Warren Liepitz) VanderLinden of Milaca, Janet VanderLinden of St. Cloud, and Bob (Cathy) VanderLinden of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister Marilyn (Jack) Weitzenkamp of Owatonna. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita on February 27, 2001; and his sister Lois VanderLinden.
Blessed be his memory
