ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Niklas Backstrom stopped 32 shots last
night in the Minnesota Wild's 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Cal Clutterbuck, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Mikko Koivu each scored
goals for the Wild, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Backstrom
improved to 5-1-1 in his career against the Lightning.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie
Frazier says long-snapper Cullen Loeffler will miss two to six
weeks with a back injury. Frazier says the team will sign someone
to fill in for Loeffler, who was hurt in Sunday's loss the Atlanta.
Safety Tyrell Johnson, receiver Michael Jenkins and running back
Adrian Peterson are also nursing injuries.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Vikings say they have about 3,000
tickets remaining for their home game against the Denver Broncos on
Sunday. Minnesota has until Thursday at noon to sell the
outstanding tickets to ensure the game will be televised locally.
The Vikings have sold out 141 straight home games.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe will miss the
rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in
his right knee. Mbakwe injured the knee in Sunday's loss to Dayton.
The senior will have surgery to repair the injury sometime in the
next few weeks.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Fans can vote online for the 2012 Minnesota
Twins Hall of Fame class.
The Twins Hall of Fame was established in 2000. The hall
annually recognizes players who have made significant contributions
to the Twins franchise and baseball across the Upper Midwest.
Eighteen former players are on the 2012 Twins Hall of Fame
ballot.
Among the candidates are Dave Boswell, Tom Brunansky, John
Castino, Mudcat Grant, Eddie Guardado, Chuck Knoblauch, Roy Smalley
and Kevin Tapani.
Online voting concludes at midnight on Jan. 4, 2012. The 2012
inductees will be announced at TwinsFest, which is set for January
27-29 at the Metrodome.
