JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Houston won another game and the

Texans lost another quarterback. Matt Leinart,  who was

starting only because starter Matt Schaub is out of the season,

suffered what could be a season-ending left shoulder injury and the

Texans are now down to backups T.J. Yates and newly signed Kellen

Clemens.

 


SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Syracuse University associate head

basketball coach Bernie Fine was fired Sunday in the wake of an

investigation of child molestation allegations against him. Fine's

firing comes in the wake of new revelation, including a third

accuser Zach Tomaselli, of Lewiston, Maine, telling the AP that he

told police that Fine molested him in 2002 in a Pittsburgh hotel

room.

 


TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona State official tells The

Associated Press that Dennis Erickson is out as Sun Devils coach.

Erickson will meet with athletic director Lisa Love as early as

Monday and, at 64, could be allowed to retire rather than be fired

 


UNDATED (AP) -Four other college football coaches were fired or

quit Sunday following disappointing seasons. Illinois sacked Ron

Zook after he went 34-51 over seven seasons, Kansas fired Turner

Gill following two losing seasons with three years left on his

contract, Neil Callaway resigned as football coach at UAB, and

Memphis fired Larry Porter after his teams went 3-21 in two seasons

and

 


LONDON (AP) - Roger Federer has won a record sixth championship

at the ATP's season-ending tournament for the top eight players.

The Swiss star beat Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3,

7-6, 6-3 in the title match
