ATLANTA (AP) - Matt Ryan threw three touchdown passes yesterday

as the Atlanta Falcons beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-14. The

Falcons were up 17-0 at halftime, but had to withstand a

second-half comeback attempt from the Vikings. Filling in for

starter Adrian Peterson, running back Toby Gerhart rushed for a

third-quarter touchdown.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Calgary Flames snapped a three-game

losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild last night.

Alex Tanguay and Jarome Iginla had third-period goals to cement

Calgary's lead. Cal Clutterbuck and Nick Johnson scored for the

Wild.

 


ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Kevin Dillard and Chris Johnson combined

for 37 points last night as Dayton topped Minnesota 86-70 in the

Old Spice Classic championship game. The Flyers hit 12 of their 27

three-point attempts and shot 46 percent overall. The Golden

Gophers lost leading scorer Trevor Mbakwe to a leg injury in the

second half.

 


OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - St. Cloud State and Nebraska-Omaha skated to

a 2-2 tie yesterday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Ben Hanowski and Brooks Bertsch each had goals for the Huskies

while goalie Ryan Faragher finished with 26 saves. The Mavericks

got goals from Brock Montpetit and Matt White.
