Virgil Leonard Mogard was born May 22, 1942 at Dawson, MN to Leonard and Velma (Shaw) Mogard. He attended grade schools in Marietta, Clarkfield and Dawson. He was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Virgil graduated from Dawson High School in 1960 and then attended the Minnesota School of Business earning an Associate Degree in Accounting. He then worked for the Farmers Elevator in Madison. On April 17, 1965 he was united in marriage to LaVonne Miller at Dawson Covenant Church and they were blessed with two daughters, Brenda and Julie. In 1967 the family moved to Clarkfield where Virgil was the hospital administrator. In 1978 the family returned to Madison and Virgil worked at the Madison Feed Mill. In 1986 Virgil and LaVonne moved to Olivia where Virgil worked for the Olivia Elevator and later the Buffalo Lake Elevator. A fall in 1996 disabled Virgil, however, he was able to spend several years volunteering at the Renville County Food Shelf and Clothing Center. Virgil’s greatest joys in life were his family and grandchildren and time spent working in the yard. Virgil’s love and concern for his immediate and extended family shone through his pain and suffering to the very end. He will be dearly missed!
