MN Sports Headlines for Friday, Nov. 11th:

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Patrick Marleau scored two

power-play goals in the second period as the San Jose Sharks

snapped Minnesota's five-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory

last night. Kyle Brodziak scored the Wild's lone goal.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi

Wilf says the team would significantly drop its

financial contribution to a new stadium if it's built in

Minneapolis instead of the team's preferred site in suburban Arden

Hills. The Vikings have committed more than $400 million to a

suburban stadium north of the Twin Cities. But state lawmakers shot

down the idea of a sales tax hike in Ramsey County that would have

generated $350 million for the project.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota men's basketball team opens its

season tonight, hosting Bucknell at Williams Arena. Gophers Coach

Tubby Smith says he expects his team's emotions and energy level to

be high after so-so performances in exhibition games earlier this

month. Smith also wants his young point guards to play steadier.

NEW YORK (AP) - The Los Angeles Sparks beat the odds to win the

top pick in the 2012 WNBA draft. The Chicago Sky will pick second,

followed by the Minnesota Lynx.
