MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Nov. 9th:

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Niklas Backstrom stopped 41 shots as the

Minnesota Wild beat the Calgary Flames 3-0 last night. It was the

Wild's fifth straight victory. Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff

(MEE'-kuh KIP'-ruh-sahf) made 23 saves.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Wild will have a special

pregame tribute to the late Derek Boogaard  later this

month. The team says Boogaard's family will be at the Xcel Energy

Center for the November 27th game when the team shows a tribute

video and makes a donation to a charity that the left wing once

supported. Boogaard died in May from a mix of alcohol and

painkillers.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Percy Harvin needed the bye week as

much as any other Vikings player. The third-year wide receiver's

been pushing through painfully bruised ribs all season, and his

body finally got a break from the grind ahead of Monday's rematch

with the rival Green Bay Packers.

UNDATED (AP) - Big Ten coaches are urging Penn State's players

to stay strong as the program weathers the sex-abuse scandal that's

already cost two administrators their jobs and led to calls for

coach Joe Paterno's ouster. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio

says a team either thrives or withers when faced

with adversity.
