Louis Kubesh, age 93, of Olivia died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia with Rev. Paul van de Crommert as celebrant. Visitation is Thursday 4-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia. Visitation continues Friday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Louis H. Kubesh was born June 15, 1918 in Troy Township, rural Olivia, MN to Lawrence and Mary (Herdina) Kubesh. He attended rural Olivia schools and then helped on the farm. Louis served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 including 36 months in the Philippines. Louie had received the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his service to his country. He returned to Olivia and farmed his entire life with his brothers Lawrence and Eddie. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans. Louis enjoyed gardening, playing cards and time spent fishing.
Louis is survived by his nephew Gordy Hemze of Willmar and his niece Patricia Gill of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Adeline Hemze and his brothers Lawrence Kubesh and Edward P. Kubesh.
