BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Matt Barkley set a USC passing record with

six TD passes -- four in the first half -- to power 21st-ranked

Southern California past Colorado 42-17 last night at Folsom Field.

The Trojans regrouped after dropping a 56-48 overtime game to

Stanford last Saturday, improving to 7-2 while the rebuilding

Buffaloes fell to 1-9.

 


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - On Saturday, the eyes of the college

football world will be focused on Bryant-Denny Stadium in

Tusclaoosa where for the first time since 2006, there will be a

regular-season matchup between the top two ranked teams. Top-ranked

LSU visits Tuscaloosa to take on second-ranked Alabama with the

winner drawing the inside track to the BCS Championship game in

January.

 


FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Carl Edwards will start seventh as he

takes a slim eight-point lead over Tony Stewart into Sunday's

NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway, the eighth of 10 races that

comprise the Chase for the Championship. No one has won more NASCAR

Cup races at Texas than Edwards, who has three wins at the 1 1/2-mile,

high-banked track.

 


LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) - Women's boxing makes its debut at

the Olympics next year and the organizing body of the sport says it

is considering having the boxers wear skirts instead of shorts. The

International Amateur Boxing Association said that officials

will meet in January to discuss the dress code and draw up

recommendations.

 


LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The last of the two-day Breeders' Cup at

Churchill Downs will conclude today with the $5 million Classic.

The morning-line favorite is Uncle Mo, who was knocked out of the

Kentucky Derby because of a liver disease, with his main

competition in the 12-horse field figuring to be Have de Grace.
