MN Sports Headlines for Saturday, Nov. 5th

MN Sports Headlines for Saturday, Nov. 5th:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Senior goalie Kent Patterson notched another

shutout yesterday, leading Minnesota to a 2-0 Western Collegiate

Hockey Association win over North Dakota. Patterson had 24 stops to

tie the school record for single-season shutouts. He shares the

mark with Robb Stauber, who turned the trick in 1987-88.

DENVER (AP) - Brady Lamb's goal with just over four minutes to

play helped Minnesota Duluth earn a 3-3 tie with Denver in a

Western Collegiate Hockey Association game yesterday. Lamb's goal

completed a second comeback from two goals down by the Bulldogs

(4-3-2, 2-2-1), who trailed 2-0 and 3-1.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - October is finally over and No. 15

Michigan State came out of it OK despite a tough schedule. The

Spartans (6-2, 3-1) beat Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin before

losing last weekend to Nebraska, and they enter the home stretch

tied for first in the Big Ten's Legends Division. They face the

Golden Gophers (2-6, 1-3 Big Ten) today.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are disputing a reading

of their lease that suggests they might have to play in the

Metrodome for one more season after this one. Vice President Lester

Bagley says the team is on "firm legal footing" in its

understanding that the lease expires after this season. The head of

the commission that runs the Metrodome, Ted Mondale, told reporters

the commission's lawyers believe a clause in the lease triggers a

one-year extension if the team is forced to play elsewhere for part

of a season. That's what happened last year when the dome's roof

collapsed during a snowstorm.
