EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared

Allen has been named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Month for

October. In five games last month, Allen had eight sacks, two

forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 24 tackles. Allen is the

first Vikings player to earn the honor since November 2005.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins are preparing to address

a number of holes when the free-agent market opens. The exclusive

negotiating period ends at midnight today on the East Coast.

Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel and Joe Nathan are all hitting the

open market.

 


ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Minnesota Twins' Triple-A affiliate in

Rochester, N.Y., has hired Tom Brunansky as the team's hitting

coach next season. Brunansky spent last season as the hitting coach

for Double-A New Britain. He was a fan favorite with the Twins and

helped the team win the World Series in 1987.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Goalie Josh Harding will make his third

straight start for the Minnesota Wild tonight against Vancouver.

Harding beat Detroit in back-to-back turns, allowing just three

goals in those two games. Coach Mike Yeo says he's taking the

goalie situation day by day.
