MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Nov. 2nd

MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Nov. 2nd:

DETROIT (AP) - Devin Setoguchi's power-play

goal at 1:33 into overtime gave the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 comeback

win last night over the Detroit Red Wings. Mikko Koivu

also scored for Minnesota and Josh Harding stopped 36

shots.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Governor Mark Dayton is ruling out a tax

increase as a way to help pay for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium.

The decision blows a $350 million hole in the team's plan to build

a $1.1 billion home in the suburbs north of the Twin Cities. Team

officials say they aren't abandoning a suburban stadium site

despite the setback.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Gophers can finally breathe a

sigh of relief after getting their first Big Ten win last weekend.

The 22-21 victory over Iowa required some important contributions

from several players who began the season in the shadows. And new

coach Jerry Kill says it shows rebuilding a struggling program

takes a lot of time.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Trevor Mbakwe had 17 points

and Ralph Sampson the Third scored 15 to lead Minnesota to a 71-58

exhibition victory over Bemidji State last night. Rodney Williams

added 10 points for the Golden Gophers, who outrebounded the

Division Two school 45 to 23.
