There will be a special meeting of the Tomahawk East League on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at the Railway Bar & Grill in Sleepy Eye to discuss the future of the New Ulm Brewers in our league. Each team will be paid for mileage and time by the New Ulm Baseball Association for agreeing to come to this special meeting. Unless I am mistaken, the main focus of this meeting will be to determine whether the Tomahawk East League would like to have the Brewers back in our league for 2012. As of now, the Brewers are still a Class B team. I believe the MBA wants the Brewers to come before our league first and see what we say before they (the MBA) decide whether to drop the Brewers down to Class C. If you are like others who think this process is perhaps backwards, know that you have company in this belief, but this is the recommendation of the MBA nonetheless. I don’t think I need to say any more than that. So plan to have someone in attendance from your team who knows the New Ulm situation so we can discuss the future. If your team will not be in attendance, please let me know. I’m not sure how the voting process will work, but if you definitely have an opinion either way on the Brewers’ status within our league, it would be good for you to be at the meeting to make sure your vote is counted and/or your voice heard. Keep in mind that whatever the League decides Thursday night will NOT necessarily be what ends up happening with the Brewers. Our bylaws state that all teams in our league must be Class C teams, so the Brewers still need to be reclassified as Class C by the MBA before they could be considered for admission back into our league unless we change our bylaws.
