Villa Davey Lietz, age 105 of Sleepy Eye, MN passed away peacefully on her birthday, Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Private graveside services will be held at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, MN. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via
Villa Davey was born in Sleepy Eye on October 28, 1906, the daughter of Glenn & Alice (Moll) Davey. She was a 1925 graduate of Sleepy Eye High School. After graduating from Mankato Teacher's College, she taught school for several years before accepting a supervisory position with the local ASCS office. She was an avid golfer and in 1973 ran a vigorous but unsuccessful campaign for Mayor of Sleepy Eye. Villa was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harry Davey, sister, Doris Pearce and nephew, Jon Pearce
Villa is survived by her niece, Marcia (Kurt) Kroschel of Rio Verde, Arizona, and by her niece, Nancy (Tom) Haugland of International Falls, Minnesota.
