Both sides rest in Radtke trial

Testimony in the trial of 52 year old David Radtke concluded yesterday with both sides resting their case in Sibley County Court.

Radtke is the former pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church (a Missouri Synod church) and is facing charges of sexual misconduct.

The prosecution concluded with the 16 year old victim in the case. Thursday the defense called a friend of the victims, Radtke's son, his wife-Diane and David Radtke himself.

Radtke admitted in court testimony that he had given back rubs to the student before and claimed that on this occassion in a partially awake state he touched her inappropriately. He appologized several days later to the victim, told his son and his wife of the incident.

Diane Radtke told the jury that she asked the female if she felt safe and that told the vistim that she would not allow David to be alone in the house with her any longer. Both David and Diane stated that they felt the touch was inappropriate but "certainly not a crime".

The defense asked many questions about the female victim to establish that she had lied about smoking to the family and maybe could not be believed.

Closing arguements will begin this morning.
