Busy Saturday in College Football



UNDATED (AP) - The top-ranked LSU Tigers stayed perfect with s

38-7 spanking of Tennessee. Jarrett Lee threw two TD passes.

Spencer Ware caught a TD and ran for another score as the Tigers

improved to 7-0 overall, 4-0 in SEC play.

The win was the seventh straight by a double-digit margin for

the Tigers. It's the second consecutive season they've swept their

three SEC East foes.

 

In other Top-25 action:

- Trent Richardson rushed for 183 yards and a career-high four

touchdowns and No. 2 Alabama's defense smothered foundering

Mississippi, 52-7.

- The fifth-ranked Boise State Broncos routed Colorado State

63-13 in their Mountain West debut behind huge games from

quarterback Kellen Moore, tailback Doug Martin and wide receiver

Tyler Shoemaker. Moore threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns on

26-of-30 passing, Martin ran 20 times for 200 yards and three

scores and Shoemaker caught nine passes for 180 yards and two TDs.

- Jeremy Smith ran for 140 yards and scored on two long

touchdown runs and No. 6 Oklahoma State beat No. 22 Texas 38-26.

Smith went 30 and 74 yards for scores and Justin Gilbert returned

the third quarter kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.

- Andrew Luck threw two third-quarter touchdown passes to Levine

Toilolo as No. 7 Stanford beat Washington State 44-14 to extend the

nation's longest winning streak to a school record 14 consecutive

games. Luck had his second straight 300-plus-yard passing

performance.

- Eighth-ranked Clemson stayed unbeaten by rallying from 18 down

with a 56-45 win at Maryland. Tajh Boyd threw four touchdown

passes.

- Perry Jones ran for 149 of Virginia's 272 yards on the ground

and the Cavaliers beat Georgia Tech 24-21.

- No. 23 Michigan State has retained bragging rights by holding

on for a fourth straight win, 28-14, over 11th-ranked Michigan.

Keshawn Martin scored twice in the third quarter on lunges into the

end zone. Isaiah Lewis returned a Denard Robinson interception 39

yards for a touchdown with 4:31 remaining to cap the scoring. The

Spartans improve to 5-1 overall, with a 2-0 mark in the Big Ten.

- Monte Ball ran for 142 yards and three touchdowns and threw a

TD pass to quarterback Russell Wilson as No. 4 Wisconsin demolished

Indiana 59-7 in Madison. The Badgers are undefeated in six games

this season and are 2-0 in the Big Ten.

- No. 15 South Carolina rallied on the road to defeat

Mississippi State 14-12. Connor Shaw's 4-yard scoring toss to

6-foot-4 receiver Alshon Jeffrey with 3:50 left in the fourth

quarter proved to be the game winner. The Gamecocks are 6-1.

- Daniel Herron, who hadn't played since the Sugar Bowl in

January because of NCAA suspensions, ran for 114 yards and a

touchdown in his return Saturday to lead Ohio State past No. 16

Illinois, 17-7.

- Collin Klein ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as

No. 17 Kansas State came from behind to beat Texas Tech 41-34.

Klein ran for 110 yards on 23 carries.

- Logan Thomas rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two more

to lead No. 19 Virginia Tech past Wake Forest 38-17.

- No. 21 Texas A&M scored 21 straight points in the third

quarter to take control in a 55-28 victory over 20th-ranked Baylor.

Aggies quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 415 yards and a

career-high six touchdowns.

- Onterio McCalebb opened the fourth quarter with a 14-yard

touchdown run, Ikeem Means recovered a muffed punt late and No. 24

Auburn beat Florida 17-6.
