EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are being

cautious about cornerback Antoine Winfield's neck strain. Winfield

was again held out of practice yesterday. Coach Leslie Frazier says

the team would know more about his condition today if Winfield

feels up for participating.

 


ATLANTA (AP) - The Minnesota Lynx look to beat the Atlanta Dream

tonight to sweep the WNBA finals. Minnesota beat the Dream on

Wednesday night to give the Lynx a 2-0 advantage in the

best-of-five series. Atlanta wants to avoid déja vu after Seattle

swept them in last year's finals.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A judge has dismissed a felony charge against

the brother of NHL enforcer Derek Boogaard in the player's overdose

death earlier this year. Aaron Boogaard was accused of giving his

brother an oxycodone pill before a night of partying that led to

Boogaard's death in May. Aaron Boogaard still faces a misdemeanor

charge for allegedly flushing evidence down the toilet.

 


DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa State forward Royce White has been

named the Big 12's preseason Newcomer of the Year. The sophomore

transferred from Minnesota without playing a game for the Gophers.

White was also named an honorable mention All-Big 12 pick by the

league's head coaches.
