Burning Bans continue throughout area

Due to the extremely dry conditions in the region, effective on Monday, October 3, 2011, at 5:00 PM, Renville County will be under a burning ban until further notice.

The National Weather Service (NWS) at Chanhassen and Sioux Falls are predicting that temperatures of 80-87, winds of 25-35 mph, and low relative humidities of 18%-30% will give severe wildfire danger conditions in southwestern Minnesota on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office has issued the burning ban to limit brush fires, ditch fires and other situations where fires could get out of control.

Burning permits that have already been issued will remain valid and can again be used once the burning ban is lifted. The Renville County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to be extra cautious and report all fires immediately.

The burning ban will be lifted once the dry conditions improve. Look to your local media outlets for updates.

Any questions can be directed to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 523-1161.

Burning Bans are in place for Redwood, Brown and Yellow Medicine County also.
