MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Rebekkah Brunson scored 26 points to lead the

Minnesota Lynx to an 88-74 win over the Atlanta Dream last night in

Game 1 of the WNBA finals. Seimone Augustus added 22 points for the

Lynx and Lindsay Whalen had 15. Game 2 of the best-of-five series

is Wednesday night in Minneapolis.

 


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs are winless no

more after beating the Minnesota Vikings 22-17 yesterday. Matt

Cassel hit Dwayne Bowe for a fourth-quarter touchdown that helped

seal the victory. Donovan McNabb finished with 202 yards passing,

two touchdowns and an interception for the 0-4 Vikings.

 


CHICAGO (AP) - Matt Forte rushed for a career-high 205 yards

yesterday as the Chicago Bears beat the Carolina Panthers 34-29.

Devin Hester set an NFL record with his 11th punt return for a

touchdown. Panthers rookie Cam Newton threw for 374 yards and a

late score to former Bears tight end Greg Olsen.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Sammy Malakwen won the 30th annual Twin

Cities Marathon yesterday. The Kenya native who lives in Two

Harbors finished with an unofficial time of two hours, 13 minutes

and 11 seconds. Yeshimebet Tadesse-Bifa of Ethiopia won the women's

race with an unofficial time of two hours, 28 minutes and 24

seconds.
