MN Sports Headlines for Friday, Sept. 30th:


COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Columbus scored three goals in the second

period as the Blue Jackets topped the Minnesota Wild 4-2 last

night. Fedor Tyutin, Rick Nash and Jeff Carter each lit the lamp

for Columbus in the period. Guillaume Latendresse and Mikko Koivu

had goals for the Wild.

 


EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Donovan McNabb has only one turnover

in three games for the Minnesota Vikings, but the quarterback has

been struggling with his accuracy. Coach Leslie Frazier said this

week the team is examining McNabb's mechanics. McNabb says he

doesn't think a change in his motion or footwork is needed, but

he's always striving for improvement.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins head into the offseason

hoping the 2012 season keep the team in better health. Injuries to

several key players helped lead the Twins to a 99-loss season.

Minnesota ended the season with a walk-off win on Wednesday night

against Kansas City.

 


NEW YORK (AP) - The Detroit Tigers are gearing up for tonight's

playoff-opener against the New York Yankees. Tigers ace Justin

Verlander gets the start against Yankees ace CC Sabathia in a

top-tier postseason pitching matchup. The same two pitchers faced

off in the regular-season opener, with Sabathia outdueling

Verlander.
