Virginia “Ginger” Rustad, age 59, of Lake Lillian died Tuesday, September 28, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Svea Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Glade officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery at Sacred Heart. Arrangements are with K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian.
Virginia Nancy “Ginger” Rustad was born July 30, 1952 at Springfield, MN to Arnold and Nellie (Doble) Larson. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Springfield High School. She married William Bregel in April, 1971 and later was divorced. Ginger married Daniel Rustad in May, 1983 at Las Vegas and they spent several years as cross country truckers. They settled on Big Kandiyohi Lake and she worked at the bank in Lake Lillian, local convenience stores and was the bookkeeper for Rustad Building. Ginger had enjoyed being at the lake, fishing, camping, teaching her daughters how to cook, reading, visiting with friends, playing the accordion, and her dogs.
Ginger is survived by her husband, Dan Rustad of Lake Lillian, her five children: Carrie Bregel of Atwater, Nicole (and John) Ivy, Denver, CO, Erica Rustad of Sunshine Coast, Australia, Tiffany Rustad of St. Cloud, and Brooke Rustad of Willmar; her grandson Alexander Ivy; her two sisters: Marilyn (and James) Prody of Ramsey and Margaret (and Timothy) Laffen of Lake Lillian; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Neil Walters.
