MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Sept. 28th:


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Rene Tosoni hit a grand slam last night as

the Minnesota Twins topped the Kansas City Royals 7-4. Denard Span

and Ben Revere added RBI triples for the Twins in the fifth inning.

Starter Anthony Swarzak allowed two runs and struck out six batters

for his fourth win of the year.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The radio voice of the Minnesota Twins is

stepping away from the microphone after a 25-year run. John Gordon

will call his final game for the Twins tonight. Gordon says 25

years with Minnesota and 43 years in professional baseball is

enough for him.

 


ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Carlo Colaiacovo scored with about a

minute to play last night to give the St. Louis Blues a 4-3

preseason win over the Minnesota Wild. Blues forward Matt

D'Agostini tied the game at 3 with a power-play goal earlier in the

third period. Marek Zidlicky, Mikko Koivu and Brett Bulmer scored

for the Wild.

 


INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Angel McCoughtry scored 26 points as the

Atlanta Dream defeated the Indiana Fever 83-67 last night to

advance to the WNBA finals. Iziane Castro Marques added 23 points

for Atlanta. The Dream will take on the Minnesota Lynx this Sunday

in Game 1 of the best-of-five series.
