Bus accident Saturday morning

A Dawson-Boyd school bus carrying 15 students was involved in a crash Saturday morning, but there were no injuries, local authorities said this weekend.

A two-vehicle crash involving the bus, which was transporting members of the Dawson-Boyd C-squad volleyball team to Minneota High School, was reported at 8:39 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Jefferson and 4th streets in Minneota, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

A report by the State Patrol said the school bus, driven by George L. Vick, 61, of Dawson, was eastbound on 4th Street and failed to yield at the intersection when it was struck by a northbound Ford pickup driven by Donald D. Sanow, 75, of Minneota.

While there were no apparent injuries among the drivers and the students, Sanow and all the passengers on the bus were taken to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center by ambulance for a medical evaluation. Vick was released at the scene and did not go to the hospital, said Deann Holland of Avera Marshall community relations.

All 15 students and Sanow had been released from the hospital by Saturday afternoon.
