MN Sports Headlines for Sunday, Sept. 11th:


DETROIT (AP) - Brandon Inge hit his second game-ending homer of

the season, giving the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the

Minnesota Twins Saturday night. Neither starting pitcher was

involved in the decision at Comerica Park in Detroit. Minnesota's

Anthony Swarzak gave up a pair of runs on four hits in six innings.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota's team doctor says head coach Jerry

Kill is in stable condition at a hospital after suffering a seizure

late in Saturday night's 28-21 loss to New Mexico State. Kill was

taken from TCF Bank Stadium by ambulance after collapsing on the

sidelines with seconds to go in the game.

 


FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Sam Ojuri ran for a school-record 95-yard

touchdown, and the North Dakota State Coyotes coasted to a 56-3

victory over St. Francis of Pennsylvania last night in Fargo. The

number 8 Wisconsin Badgers shut out Oregon State 35-0 in Madison.

And Saint Cloud State defeated Concordia-Saint Paul 41-13.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Running back Adrian Peterson has agreed to a

long-term contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings this

weekend. Peterson had begun the final year of his rookie contract

and was in position for a big pay day after being picked for the

Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons. The Vikings open their season

on the road against the San Diego Chargers at 3:15 p.m. central

time today.
