MN Sports Headlines for Tuesday, Sept. 6th:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Zach Stewart's one-hit shutout gave the

Chicago White Sox a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins last night

to complete a doubleheader sweep. Stewart had a perfect game until

Danny Valencia's leadoff double in the eighth. Alexei Ramirez's RBI

double helped the Sox win the matinee 2-1.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings have signed a

new five-year deal with linebacker Chad Greenway. Terms of the

agreement weren't disclosed, but it should give the team more space

under the salary cap. The Vikings have also been talking about an

extension with star running back Adrian Peterson.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Vikings are preparing for the

regular season opener at San Diego this weekend. Vikings players

believe the past is behind them and they say they relish being

"under the radar." Minnesota looks to be free of all distractions

come Sunday afternoon against the Chargers.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Doug Fister had a career-high 13 strikeouts

yesterday to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians

4-2. Fister improved to 4-1 in seven starts with Detroit after

giving up one run and four hits over eight innings. Victor Martinez

hit a three-run homer as the Tigers extended their lead in the AL

Central.
