Armin T. Grundmeyer



Armin T. Grundmeyer, 89, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Friday from 4 to 7 PM and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Service will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:30 AM The Clergy will be Pastor Kevin Draper Interment Home Cemetery with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Armin Theodore Grundmeyer was born on April 8, 1922 in Stark Township, Brown County, MN, the son of Louis & Louise (Werth) Grundmeyer. Armin grew up and attended Iberia Country School. He served in the U.S. Navy from Aug. 25, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on Nov. 30, 1946. Armin married June Miller on June 28, 1951 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. He was a VFW past president and commander, member of the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard, the Legion and the DAV. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and was involved on church and school boards. Armin was proud to have served his country in the Navy and enjoyed fishing, hunting, planting and caring for trees, playing cards and traveling to Arizona for 15 years.
He is survived by wife, June Grundmeyer of Sleepy Eye, daughters, Peggy Johnson of Maple Grove and Paula (Steve) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Grundmeyer and brothers, Raymond and Alfred Grundmeyer.
