MN Sports Headlines for Wednesday, Aug. 31st:


CHICAGO (AP) - Alejandro De Aza had a career-high four RBIs to

lead the Chicago White Sox to an 8-6 victory over the Minnesota

Twins last night. De Aza hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the

fourth after Jason Kubel belted a three-run shot in the top half of

the inning. Twins starter Anthony Swarzak took the loss after

allowing eight runs.

 


CHICAGO (AP) - The Twins say Justin Morneau will miss several

games with mild concussion symptoms. Morneau jammed his shoulder

diving for a ball on Sunday and the team says he started

experiencing headaches on Monday. He's expected to take another

concussion test later today.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Lindsay Whalen scored 21 points as the

Minnesota Lynx pounded the Washington Mystics 73-56 last night.

Rookie Maya Moore added nine points for the Lynx, who've won six

consecutive games. Minnesota is one win or an Indiana loss from

clinching home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A person with knowledge of the situation says

Rick Adelman is meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves about the

team's open head coaching job. It's the second time this month

Adelman has met with Timberwolves officials. Adelman has 945

careers wins in 20 seasons as an NBA head coach.
