A high school teacher was injured in a classroom chemical explosion Monday, the first day of the new school year in Minneapolis Public Schools.
Minneapolis firefighters, including a hazardous materials crew, were called to Patrick Henry High School where the explosion occurred while the male teacher was preparing for a demonstration.
Besides injuries to the teacher, a table and some chair sustained damage, but a fire did not ignite.
Fire officials say the school was locked down, then evacuated. The teacher was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with minor cuts and burns.
