MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Curtis Granderson's inside-the-park home run

helped the New York Yankees defeat the Minnesota Twins yesterday

3-0. Ivan Nova picked up the win after allowing five hits and

Mariano Rivera notched his 33rd save of the year. Twins starter

Nick Blackburn left the game early with a strained right forearm.

 


HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay

tweeted yesterday that he's in Brett Favre's hometown of

Hattiesburg, Miss. Favre retired in the offseason after 20 years

with the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and

Minnesota Vikings. Favre's agent says he hasn't heard of any

interest from the Colts

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Thousands of people who visited the Metrodome

during an open house over the weekend took home some unusual

memorabilia. The first 3,000 fans that arrived at the stadium on

Saturday were given a piece of the Metrodome's former roof that

collapsed in December. The open house also gave visitors a glimpse

of the new roof.

 


BRAINERD, Minn. (AP) - Antron Brown picked up his fourth Top

Fuel win of the season yesterday at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at

Brainerd International Raceway. Brown raced his dragster past

teammate Tony Schumacher to collect the victory. Johnny Gray, Greg

Anderson and LE Tonglet were also winners yesterday.
