BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Colt McCoy may have a tough time topping his
exhibition season debut.
The Browns' second-year quarterback outdueled Super Bowl MVP
Aaron Rodgers in Cleveland's 27-17 win over the Green Bay Packers
on Saturday night. McCoy completed 9 of 10 passes for 135 yards and
a touchdown. McCoy looked sharp in the Browns' new West Coast
offense, a scheme of designed rollouts and short passes first-year
coach Pat Shurmur used with great success last season as St. Louis
offensive coordinator with Sam Bradford.
McCoy cautioned making too much of his performance afterward,
saying he and his teammates are "nowhere where we need to be."
But for the first time in ages, it appears the Browns, who have
had a revolving door at QB, are at least headed in the right
direction.
