Donald Petracek



Donald Petracek, 87, of Belview died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at

Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will

be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011 at St. Mary’s

Catholic Church in Seaforth with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. with

Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to

services on Monday August 15, 2011, both will be held at the church.

Arrangements are with the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of

Echo and Wabasso.

Donald Joseph Petracek, 87, was born on July 6, 1924 to Frank and

Magdalena (Kramer) Petracek. He grew up on a farm near Seaforth, MN

and began farming at a very young age. He was united in marriage to

Doris Price on August 22, 1953 and they moved to a farm one half mile

from where he was born and raised. Don farmed in partnership with his

brother Clarence for about 45 years before retiring in 1987. Family,

farming, his Catholic religion, fishing, hunting and friends were his

life. In his retirement years, Donald enjoyed playing golf and bridge

with Doris and his many new and lifelong friends. He never quite gave

up on farming, growing roses and sweet corn to share with all. He was

a loving spouse, father and grandfather.

Donald died on August 11, 2011 under hospice care in Redwood Falls,

MN. He is survived by his wife Doris, his children; Frank (Kimberly)

Petracek, of Dublin CA, Peter (Bridget) Petracek of Grayslake, IL,

Daniel (Kathy) Petracek of Waseca, MN, Marie (Mark) Longtine of

Glendale, MO, and Bill Petracek of Fox Lake WI, grandchildren;

Kristen, Taylor, Karl, Jill, Alison, Francis, Emily, Samantha, Joseph

and Michael Petracek, Anne, Charlie, John and Elizabeth Longtine,

brother; Francis (Kathleen) Petracek, sisters-in-law and

brothers-in-law; Susan Petracek, Marian Redig, Jack, Bill (Mary), Tom

(Stephanie) Price as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded

in death by his parents Magdalena and Frank Petracek, infant son

Joseph Petracek, sisters; Mary Ann DeSutter and Patty Petracek,

brothers; Clarence and Edmund Petracek. Blessed be his memory.
