MN Sports Headlines for Tuesday, Aug. 9th:


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - David Ortiz singled in the go-ahead run in

the ninth inning last night to lift the Boston Red Sox to an 8-6

win over the Minnesota Twins. Ortiz finished the game with four

hits, including a two-run homer in the sixth. Jason Kubel homered

and had two RBIs for the Twins, who've lost five in a row.

 


MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook is

looking to rebound from an injury-plagued rookie season. Cook

suffered a torn meniscus on his left knee during the preseason last

year, then tore the same cartilage on his right knee about a month

later. The cornerback says the experience was humbling.

 


MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - Vikings quarterback Rhett Bomar has been

arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Authorities say Bomar was

taken into custody on Sunday morning. The Vikings picked up Bomar

in December from the New York Giants practice squad.

 


MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The final lawsuit over the death of Minnesota

Vikings lineman Korey Stringer has been settled. Terms of the

agreement between Stringer's family and Chicago-based equipment

maker Riddell weren't disclosed. Stringer died in August 2001 after

collapsing during a sweltering day of practice.
