Camden State Park will begin opening its facilities to the public beginning Aug. 1. The park has been closed while staff has worked to clear roads, trails and campgrounds of damage sustained in the July 1 storm that swept through the area.
Park Manager Bill Dinesen announced that the following areas will be opened on Aug. 1:
- Lower Campground
- Upper loop of the Upper Campground (sites 38-63)
- Group Camp
- Horse Camp
- Swimming Beach
- Both picnic areas
- Five to six miles of trails, mainly near the Lower Campground and Beach areas
Other areas will remain closed, including:
- Lower loop of the Upper Campground (sites 64-82)
- Brawner Lake
- Several sections of the trail system which are still blocked with heavy windfalls.

Camden State Park sits on 2,245 acres in Lyon County and receives more than 100,000 annual visits. The park is located three miles southwest of Lynd or 10 miles south of Marshall on State Highway 23.
